Welcome to Today’s Focus, This is Hazza.
The first Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation closed Monday in Beijing with much success, including the signing of a series of cooperation agreements, in a concrete move to revive the Silk Road.
The Belt and Road Initiative, referring to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, were put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his overseas visits in 2013.
The Initiative has been designed to enhance the orderly free-flow of economic factors and the efficient allocation of resources. It is also intended to further market integration and create a regional economic co-operation framework of benefit to all.
The forum, was the highest-level meeting regarding the Belt and Road Initiative since it was put forward in 2013. It has re-demonstrated China's commitment to building an open economy, ensuring free and inclusive trade worldwide and sharing the benefits with other countries.
Twenty-nine foreign heads of state and government attended the forum. More than 1,500 delegates from over 130 countries and 70 international organizations also took part.

【recording】They were talking about China being the center of a spread-out possibility that they are taking care of. The idea is, the rest of us will be part of it. We had the president of China talking about sitting altogether and building this up together, and for the benefits of all of us. It is a new approach to integrate in the world and a fantastic possible future. We are very happy to be here.

A reporter from Russia:
[recording] Of course we are focused on the program of president Putin and for us it is the most interesting thing. We are covering of course his negotiations with Mr. Xi Jinping, the president of China. We are focused on “One Belt One Road”. As I know, it is now 66 billion in trades (between us) last year, as it is growing now. Of course, we are focusing on it too. We hope the foreign trades will rise. Russia and China are strategic partners and we expect the friendship to be more wide, more powerful for the two countries, and to make friendships about business too.
Tarkwen Beatrice, a reporter with Kenya’s Sun Newspaper.
[recording] I am very interested to hear about President Xi’s speech and what he is going to say about the future progress of the “Belt and Road” initiative. I am also interested to find out the about the initiative and its impact on African countries because China is doing a lot of infrastructure development for African countries so I want to hear especially what Africa’s leadership wants from the “Belt and Road” initiative. There are 2 African heads of state attending this forum: the Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta is at the forum, and also the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn is also attending this forum.

A list of major outcomes from the forum was approved at the closing ceremony of the forum, with 76 items including more than 270 concrete results in the key areas of policy, infrastructure, trade, finance and people-to-people exchanges.
Leaders attending the roundtable on Monday also issued a joint communiqué, in which they stated a "shared commitment to building an open economy, ensuring free and inclusive trade (and) opposing all forms of protectionism in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative".
The summit has seen leaders agreeing to prioritize policy consultation, work on perfecting the infrastructure connectivity network and better serve public well-being and sustained development, according to an official release by the Foreign Ministry.
While chairing the summit, Xi said the Belt and Road Initiative is an open and inclusive platform and a public service jointly built by parties around the world.
China welcomes all friends cherishing the same ideals to join the Belt and Road, which will neither exclude nor target any side.
