Welcome to Beijing Paralympics countdown. I'm Liuxu. There are now 9 days to go before the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games.

The lighting ceremony of the Beijing Paralympic torch relay took place at the Temple of Heaven at 10:30 a.m., this morning(Aug 28th). The optical focus of a concave mirror was used to light the Paralympic flame. Two relay routes commence in Beijing tomorrow and meeting again on September 5. The flame will tour the capital before the lighting of the main cauldron at the National Stadium, or Bird's Nest, on September 6.

The "Ancient China" route crosses the historic cities of China to showcase the history of Chinese civilization and the panorama of the host country.

The "Modern China" route passes through costal and middle cities, highlighting China's post reform and opening-up achievements. First stop is Shenzhen.

The arrangement of the flame relay will be the same as the Beijing Olympics.
