Even since the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, the Olympic host city is required to build an Olympic Village to accommodate all the athletes. The Olympic Village in Beijing is 3 kilometers away from the Bird's Nest, which is designed to host 16,800 athletes and coaches. I am very curious about the secret place for super sport stars, but I am not lucky enough to visit it. Finally I managed to talk to some athletes about their experience.
Glagysmora is a Taekwondo athlete from Columbia. Talking about the new home, she seems loving it a lot.
"It's very beautiful and it's wonderful. It's big. [There are] entertainment games and movies."
Entertainment is of course very important. No wander Glagysmora is so satisfied. Cleopatra from Trinidad added that she likes the food and the room services.
"The food is good. I can get Chinese food, Mediterranean, salad and fruits. The room is very nice. It's a big room with a bathroom inside. Room service is good. They clean the room everyday. The volunteers are very good."
It's just a small survey and I can't talk to every athlete. So let me quote the remarks of the IOC executive director Gilbert Felli as the conclusion:
"...'President, thank you. It is fantastic. We've never seen any organizations and conditions for athletes like this."
I wish one day I could also enjoy the excellent facilities in the village. I have a suggestion. After the Olympics, Olympic Village should open as a scenic spot. It will be very funny to see the huge bed that Yaoming has slept on.
