Welcome to our special report about Olympic stories in Beijing. This is Zhengyun.
To introduce today's guests, we need to listen to some music.
Wasn't that beautiful? They are a band called Kalimba from Kenya, who performanced at the renowned Great Hall of People in Beijing for the Olympics. So, what does the name Kalimba mean?
"Kalimba is an African instrument, a musical instrument that is shaker. The reason we use this name is because Kalimba is used by different communities to sing in their different languages. We are also singing in the same different languages."
Ok, I got it. A very special instrument and a nice name too. So, what do think of your performance in China?
"That was one of the best experience we had in our musical career. We have first of all never performed in that international level where we have come to represent our country; we have come to a country that is hosting the Olympics at this particular time; and of course the biggest part of all is to be able to sing to an audience we had never sang to."
Hope you enjoy your time here. Kenya is very strong in track and field events. So do you expect to win more medals in Beijing?
"We ourselves are really winners. We have won by being able to come and participate in one of the activities, that was, promoting the Olympics, because we brought the cultural aspect of our country and different countries to Beijing. We have already gotten our gold. Our gold is in our heart."
"Our gold is in our heart." I love it! It has been very nice meeting Kalimba. I love their music. It's simply wonderful. Hope you like it too. Thanks for listening. Stay tuned.

(The kalimba is an instrument in the perussion family. It is a modernized version of the African mbira. It is a sound box with metal keys attached to the top to give the different notes. It is also known as the African thumb piano. Source from: wikipedia.org)
