China topped the list with 17 goal medals as of yesterday (Aug 13th) , surpassing the United States with 10 medals and South Korea with 6.
China made history by winning its first Olympic gold medal in the Team event of Women's Gymnastics. China won with a total of 188.9 points.

23-year old Chinese strongwoman Liu Chunhong broke three world records claiming the Olympic title in the women's 69kg category weightlifting. She created China's first world record by lifting 128 kgs.

Defending world champions, Qin Kai and Wang Feng, reigned in a fourth Olympic diving title for China when they twirled 50 points above their rivals towards a victory in the men's 3m springboard synchronized final.

American Olympian, Phelps, collected his fourth and fifth gold medals, smashing the world record in the 200-meter butterfly and Men's 4 x 200m Freestyle team. Phelps can be called a career leader with 11 gold medals.

Entering the sixth day of the Olympics, 17 Gold medals are up for grabs in Men's individual Gymnastics all-around, Women's individual Archery, as well as swimming, judo and shooting. Chinese athletes are in the hot seat for gold in Men's individual all-around Gymnastics and judo.
