After 24 years, Zhong Claims Another Fencing Gold for China

Zhong Man ignited the home crowd Tuesday night, as Chinese people here and in the Olympic Fencing Hall roared for their second Olympic fencing gold medal in 24 years. The gold medal came as China's second in its fencing history, after womens Champion foilist Luan Jujie won the first at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

 

 

 

Chinese Men Storm to Gymnastics Team Gold at Beijing Olympics

China's formidable male gymnasts stormed to a long awaited Olympic team gold before an ecstatic home crowd on Tuesday. The gold is also the first team gold for the Chinese delegation at the Beijing Olympics.

 

 

 

Unstoppable Phelps Grabs Third Gold with Third World Record

American Michael Phelps smashed his own world record of the men's 200-meter freestyle yesterday to increase his gold medal count to three at the Beijing Olympics. Another swimming sensation, Australian swimmer Leisel Jones won the 100-meter breaststroke here Tuesday, putting the long-awaited Olympic gold into her pocket. Aaron Peirsol from the United States defended his title of backstroke king by winning the 100-meter race in a world record time here on Tuesday at the Beijing Olympic Games, 0.35 second faster than his previous personal best of 52.89 which he set one month ago at the U.S. national swimming Olympic Trials.

 

Slovakia, Germany Win Canoeing Dlalom Men's C1, K1 Golds

Slovakia and Germany took the Olympic canoeing slalom C1 and K1 titles respectively on Tuesday in Beijing, extending Europeans' domination in the white water canoeing events.

 

Germany Wins Eventing Team Jump Gold in Olympics

Germany won the first Olympic Eventing Team gold medal in the three-day eventing at the Shatin Equestrian Venue last night after a tight fight with Australia and Great Britain.

 

 

Today, 17 golds will be available in several categories, including swimming, diving and fence-play. Chinese delegation is expected to win golds in five categories; men's weigh lifting and diving.
