Charity Show put on stage to collect funds for Para Games
The Guangzhou Asian Para Games will take place from Dec. 12th to 19th. A large-scale charity show was staged this Friday (September 3) in Guangzhou to mark the 100th day countdown to the event. A charity fund raising is being organized to collect funds, part of which will be used to sponsor the accommodation and transport costs for 5 athletes from each of the 41 participating countries and regions. What¡¯s more, people will be able to watch all events of the Asian Para Games event for free.

Torch Relay for Asian Para Games will Take Place from Dec 3 to 11
The 2010 Guangzhou Asian Para Games torch relay will take place from Dec 3rd to the 11th in Guangzhou. 660 torch-bearers will be selected and people with disabilities should make up no less than 20% of it. More from our reporter Zheng Yun:
"Record" On the 3rd, the torch will be lite at the Guangzhou TV Tower and from the 4th to 9th it will be displayed at different public places such as the Culture Plaza. On 10th, the relay itself will be held at the Science Center as well as in the Asian Games Town.


Guangzhou Asian Games Town Handed over to GAGOC
As for the Guangzhou Asian Games Town, the largest venue built especially for the 16th Asian Games, it is now completed and was delivered to the Games Organizing Committee on Tuesday (August 31). Located in southern Guangzhou, the Asian Games Town consists of seven major parts, including the Athletes' Village, the Technical Officials' Village, the Media Village, the Main Media Center, the Logistics Area, the Gymnasium, and the Asian Games Park.


Smoking banned in public venues
Guangzhou's new smoking regulation took effect on Wednesday (September 1st). Smoking is now banned in all public venues including train stations and metro platforms. Violators shall be fined 7 USD.


ID required for new cell phones
All individuals including foreigners shall now have to present a valid ID card when purchasing a phone number starting. This began on Sep. 1st, in the latest campaign by the government to curb spam, pornographic messages and fraud sent to cellular phones.


Security Check Strengthened Prior to the Games
And finally, since the beginning of September, all vehicles entering Guangzhou will need to go through a special security check, a move to strengthen security in town prior to the Guangzhou Asian Games. In addition, those wishing to check in at hotels without an ID card or passport should apply for a certificate at the local public security bureau.
