Guangzhou Hino Motors' first heavy truck product to be listed next month The first series of Hino Motors' heavy trucks will make their debut on the market next month. According to Li Shao, vice-executive manager of the Guangzhou-Japanese company, the hino007 series will be priced at no more than 400,000 yuan, half the price of imported trucks. Over 800 changes have been made to the design of the trucks, making these vehicles the first in Guangzhou to have been locally designed and manufactured.

Guangzhou to Extend Coverage of Law Consultation Services According to a new regulation passed Monday (Jul 27th), Guangzhou will extend the criteria for citizens to be eligible for free legal consultations. The regulation now allows another 6 groups of people get free legal assistance, including those who already benefit from social relief, migrant workers seeking help on long-due payments, volunteer soldiers and so on.
Guangdong Will Establish Dust-haze Monitoring Center Guangdong will build a provincial-level dust and haze monitoring center, as suggested in a report presented by the Provincial Government and discussed on Wednesday (July 29) by Guangdong's CPC Committee. The report states the haze and dust has led to a rise in the numbers in patients suffering from respiratory diseases and that the budget allocated for monitoring services within the PRD is not sufficient to cope with these changes.

An Ink Painting Exhibition On Tour in GZ's Communities To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, an ink painting exhibition commenced on Sunday (July 26th) in Guangzhou. Over 30 painting are on display, amongst which, the large scale ink painting called "Lingnan Chunhui". Created by 14 artists, it measures 11.7 meters high and 4.7 meters wide and has attracted a lot of attention. More from our reporter Luo Su: The painting is in the traditional Lingnan style and includes Baiyun Mountain and Mumoun flowers, which is the city flower of Guangzhou. The exhibition will be displayed in most of the city's communities. Citizen Ms Chen said: "It's good to have such an exhibition in our community, so close to home, as it allows more citizens to discover art and learn to appreciate it." Xu Xinsong, the President of Guangdong Artist Association considers it is a great move to promote the development of art in Guangdong, as more citizens can have access to quality works of art.


More Cultural Exchanges to be Strengthened between GD and Europe Guangdong is expected to strengthen cultural ties with Europe, with more artists and curators invited to attend the biennial Europalia Art Festival next year. Mr. Felix, the Belgian Consul-General in Guangzhou who is soon to leave his position, made this statement during the meeting for the last time with Guangdong Vice-Governor, Wan Qingliang.
