Guangzhou Auto Show Commences Tomorrow
The 6th China (Guangzhou) Automobile Exhibition will kick off its week-long exhibition at the Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition center tomorrow (November 19). Auto Guangzhou 2008 will cover a total area of 125,000 square metres, 25% bigger than previous one. All thirteen exhibition halls at the Pazhou complex's area A will be used for the first time.
Chinese urban forest seminar commences
The 5th Chinese urban forest seminar, a conference to discuss forest and urban bio-environment construction, commenced yesterday in Guangzhou. Today and tomorrow, over 610 officials, experts, and scholars from 16 countries will attend the seminar and exchange ideas. Our journalist Wang Jianping has more:
Jia Zhibang, the director of the State Forestry Administration pointed out that:
"Forests are the largest manufacturer of bio-products. Developing urban forests is the most direct way to solve city pollution, noise, dirt, and heat island effect problems."
The Secretary of Guangzhou's CPC Committee, Zhu Xiaodan, pledged to build Guangzhou into a resource-efficient and environmentally-friendly city.
"We will work towards building Guangzhou into a national forest city. By learning from all the advanced ideas and rich experience from this seminar, we will fully accelerate the plan to improve Guangzhou's urban environment and build Guangzhou into a harmonious and beautiful green Asian Game city."

Stricter Control on Guangzhou Car Emission Vehicles without the environmental protection green logo on their front shield will be banned on Guangzhou's streets from next year onwards. Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau announced this policy yesterday (November 17), stressing that those violating the rule will be fined. In addition, high emission autos will be prohibited in some areas.
