Government Helps with SMES' Financing
Guangdong government has decided to allocate 100 million Yuan to set up a re-guaranteeing company to help the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which have been hit hard by the international financial crisis. Our journalist Li Hongzhong has more:
Vice director of the Guangdong Economic and Trade Bureau and director of the Guangdong Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Bureau, Liu Huanquan told the press yesterday (November 16) that in the first 9 months of this year, 7148 SMEs have closed down. However, he denied that there is a SMEs bankrupting tide. Liu stressed that to support the development of SEMs, financing is the biggest issue: "To solve financing problems and to accelerate the construction of a credit guarantee system, the Guangdong government has decided to allocate 100 million Yuan to set up a re-guaranteeing company. It shows that the government attaches great importance to this issue."
Chinese urban forest seminar commences
The 5th Chinese urban forest seminar, a conference to discuss forest and urban bio-environment construction commenced this morning in Guangzhou. Over the coming two days, over 610 officials, experts, and scholars from 16 countries will exchange ideas on how to use forests to solve city pollution, noise, and dirt problems, and how to tackle heat island effect.

Chinese shares stands above 2000
Chinese Shares reached a three-week high today (November 17), to end above the 2000 points benchmark. The Shanghai Composite Index ended up 2.22 percent at 2030 points. The Shenzhen Component Index rose high 1.84%, closing at 6783 points.
Chilly Weather Approaching A strong cold front will enter Guangdong tonight with temperatures expecting to drop dramatically. The mercury will drop by 5 to 7 degrees in just one day. By the end of the week Guangzhou's temperature are likely to decrease to about 11 degrees.
