Guangzhou Port Transports its 10 Millionth Standard Container

Guangzhou Port handled its 10 millionth standard container yesterday (November 13), making the harbor one of the world's top ports in terms of the number of transiting containers. A ceremony was held to mark this special moment at Nansha harbor. Our journalist Yu Sulin has more:

A port's business level is often regarded as a barometer of a region's economy. Board director for the Guangzhou Port Group Chen Hongxian said their group will adjust their development strategies as the country is adjusting its foreign trade policy.

"We will further improve the functionality of the port, increasing the port's handling capacity, especially to meet the demand of large ships. Next step, we need to build large-size deep-water berths."
