Tibetan Teenagers Receive Vocational Training in Guangzhou
Two groups of Tibetan junior middle-school graduates arrived in Guangzhou yesterday (Sep. 8th), where they will receive three years of vocational training. More from our reporter Li Hongzhong:
The students arrived at the school at around 7 last night. Dan'Zeng'Luo'Bu, one of the students, said this is the first time they've traveled so far from home but that he believes it will be worthwhile:
"Record" I hope I can learn something useful here, so that I can open a shop back in Tibet.
According to the Guangdong Education Department, a total of 310 Tibetan junior middle-school graduates will come to Guangzhou to receive vocational training. Their majors will meet the needs of Tibet's development, and the students will be exempted from the tuition fee and receive a living allowance.
Guangzhou has pledged to make this a long term commitment and to receive a certain number of students every year.
Supervisions on Traffic Violations Enhanced
The Guangzhou traffic authorities yesterday (Sept 8th) announced eight additional traffic control systems will be operational this Sunday (September 12th). They consist of special electronic cameras and a vehicle sensor, which will automatically produce video or digital images when a vehicle violates traffic regulations, such as parking in illegal areas, driving on the wrong site of the road and other infractions. These new cameras will be found in haizhu, huangpu and baiyun districts.
Another Tropical Storm Ready to Hit GD
Only days after typhoon Lion Rock hit the province, the 10th tropical storm so far this year, Meranti, will land in eastern Guangdong or Fujian province tonight (Sept 9th) or tomorrow (Sept 10th). Under the influence of the storm, there will be mild showers in eastern Guangdong and in the east of the Pearl River Delta. This shall turn into heavy rain across the province tomorrow.
