GZ Conducts New BRT Buses Test Run A test run was conducted this morning(July 23rd) on six 18-metre long BRT buses that are soon to begin operating on BRT route No.1, running between Tianhe Sports Center and Xiayuan station. These new super-long buses are 6 meters longer than usual vehicles and can carry up to 160 passengers.

MOF Issues Food Safety Alert The Ministry of Health has issued a food safety alert in light of the recent cases of food poisoning in schools and factory cafeterias. For the first 5 months of this year, a total of 108 cases of food poisoning have been recorded nationwide, involving around 2500 people, 56 of which died. The most prominent causes of such cases have been bacteria contamination, the consumption of agricultural fertilizers, poisonous mushrooms and so on.
23 Cities & Regions Raise Minimum Wage Standards The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Securities this morning (23rd) delivered a report on the nation's employment and social security conditions. For the first half of the year, 6.38 million people were hired, which means, according to the department that 71% of this year's goal of creating 9 million jobs has been reached. Furthermore, the report goes on to say, that so far this year, 23 cities and regions have raised their minimum wage standards, the highest one being Shanghai at 1,120 Yuan per month.
In Dongguan, Investment from Japan & Korea Increase Sharply This year, the city of Dongguan changed the way they solicited investment and the results seem quite promising. In the first half of the year, the city has seen investment from Taiwan grow by 126% and from Japan and Korea by as much as 40%. Most of this investment has been in the electronic industry.
