Typhoon Chanthu Lands at Wuchuan
This year's 3rd tropical storm, Chanthu, has finally landed in Guangdong, in the city of Wuchuan at exactly 13:45 today (22nd) and traveling at a speed of 35 meters per second. In Guangdong, it is the city of Zhanjiang that is likely to take the hardest blow from Chanthu bringing heavy rainstorms, before it moves on to Guangxi Province tonight.

Taxis' Additional 0.5 Yuan Fuel Surcharge Likely to be Canceled
The additional 0.5 Yuan fuel surcharge fee in taxis that has only recently become effective is likely to be canceled in the near future. The deputy director of the Guangzhou Price Control Bureau said this morning (22nd) that LPG's retail price could drop to below 3.64 Yuan per liter, and when this happens, the additional 0.5 Yuan fuel surcharge will be canceled. Currently the LPG retail price is 4.05 Yuan per liter.

9.2 km-long Cruise on Pearl River will Kick Start Asian Games

With just over 100 days to go until the Asian Games begin, construction work on the open stage grounds to host the opening ceremony is near completion. GAGOC told us the opening ceremony will be composed of 2 main parts- a 9.2 km long cruise along the Pearl River and an entertainment performance:

And as for the ceremony to welcome the athletes, it will be specially designed for the geographical features of Haixinsha Island. At 9:42 that night, there will be the torch-lighting ceremony. And that, is of course our most important secret for now."

SDA: No Excessive Antioxidant Found in McNuggets
In response to the claim that McDonald's McNuggets contain an excessive amount of "tertiary Butylhydroquinone", a highly effective preservative for unsaturated vegetable oils and many edible animal fats, could jeopardize health, the State Food and Drug Administration yesterday (21st) assured consumers that such concerns are unnecessary. The administration conducted sampling test in four cities including Beijing, Shenyang, Shanghai and Nanning, and found that the amount of such preservative in McNuggets is well below the maximum limit of 200 milligrams / kg.
