Slow Salary Growth Tops the Social Issues in GD 
Entitled the "social thermometer", a survey focusing on public opinions regarding the current work and living standards was released yesterday (July 20th). Although only 4870 questionnaires were collected, over half of the surveyed complained of inflating commodity prices whilst salaries were stagnating.

GD Week to be Unveiled at SH World Expo
Starting next Wednesday ( July 28th ), Guangdong Week hopes to stun visitors to the 2010 World Expo which is taking place in Shanghai. During this special week for us, 1200 performers will perform 80 folk art performances presenting Lingnan culture. What's more, the Shanghai World Expo will be home to Le Yangyang, mascot for Guangzhou Asian Games. Our reporter Luo su reports:
 Mr. Du Zuoxiang, the Deputy Director General of the Guangdong Culture Department, said that in addition to Lingnan-style performances and cultural activities, nearly 300 cultural heritage items will be displayed during Guangdong Week. Du said that the performances will present a collection of Guangdong drama arts.
"The Guangzhou aerobatics troupe, puppet shows, Cantonese opera, Chaozhou-dialect opera, and other rare Guangdong operas will be presented. "

Chanthu Ready to Hit GD
This year's third tropical storm, Chanthu, is forecast to land in the cities of Shenzhen and Zhanjiang starting tonight. Heavy rainstorms are expected in central and southern Guangdong, in particular the Pearl River Delta Region and western Guangdong. Guangzhou over the next three days will see heavy rain.
