GD's River Under Close Supervision over Mining Pollution A leakage from the Fujian-based Shanghang Zijin mining group into the Dingjiang river, a branch of Guangdong's Hanjiang river is now undergoing close supervision by the Guangdong Environmental Protection Department and the Meizhou municipal government, which the river runs through. As of yesterday (July 20th), the main pollution indexes had been dropping regularly since Sunday (July 18th) and the local government claims the quality standard is not affected, although this cannot be independently verified. In addition, a sample test of aquatic products is being conducted every two days and will last until the end of this month. No fishing is allowed in the affected area and aquatic products shall later have to pass strict screening procedures before they can be sold again.
GZ's Vehicle Limitation Test-Run Ends Yesterday saw the end to the four-day test period of Guangzhou's vehicle limitation measures. The Guangzhou Communications Commission last night reported the initial evaluation about this first test-run. Overall the operation went smoothly; air quality improved, and public transportation handled the dramatic upsurge in the passenger volume quite well. As of 4 p.m. yesterday, more than 17,200 cars had been caught violating the limitation measures over the past four days, and a total of 3 million Yuan in fines were received.

The Evergrande's Brazilian Forward Muriqui Expected to Debut In Chinese football, today (July 21st) the A league kicks off its 12th round of competitions.
