GZ Tests Vehicle Limitation Measures Over Weekend Starting tomorrow (July 17th), Guangzhou will test the vehicle limitation measures which shall be in place during the Asian Games. Drivers violating the odd-even numbered license plate measure will face a penalty of up to 200 yuan and shall see 3 points deducted from their driving licence. Over 100 signs will be set up to remind drivers of the limitation measures and it will last until the 20th of this month. Tomorrow, only cars with their license plate number ending with an odd-number can drive in Guangzhou.

Typhoon Conson to Bring GD Cooler Weather Typhoon Conson is likely to move towards the east of Hainan and into Guangxi Province instead of entering Guangdong as initially predicted by the meteorological center. However, Guangdong is still likely to benefit from the arrival of Conson, which is expected to bring the mercury down slightly, ending the 2 week long hot weather.
GD Provides Free Lectures to Enterprises on Quality Control A series of seminars on the topic of "quality control" kicked off in Guangzhou. An expert in the field, Doctor Zhang Xiaodong, will give lectures to over 2000 administrative officials on 3 main topics: quality, standard, and branding. These seminars are financed by the Guangdong Quality Supervision Bureau and lectures will be given in 5 cities: Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan and Shantou.
Zhongshan Book Fair Opens The 2nd Zhongshan Book Fair opened today (16th) in the city's Expo Center. For the first time, many books published by Hong Kong, Taiwan and foreign publishers are being displayed and sold, including many recent best-sellers. The book fair has 5 main sections, covering 16,000 square meters.
