GD Focuses on Culture
The 10th Guangdong CPC Committee's 7th plenary session kicked off today (July 16th) in Guangzhou. The meeting will seek ways to consolidate Guangdong's position as a culturally strong province. According to the meeting agenda, the meeting will wrap up tomorrow (July 17th) after an outline of the plan has been discussed.


Cantonese Opera Master Passes Away
A legendary Cantonese opera master, Luo Pinchao, passed away yesterday (July 15th) afternoon at the age of 101. He was considered the treasure of Cantonese opera, even in the Chinese theatrical circle. Mr. Luo Pinchao had been performing for 80 years, and is the current Guinness World Record-holder for the longest artistic career. He strongly influenced Cantonese Opera, creating his own individual performing style.

GD's Fever Will be Gone this Weekend
The Guangdong metrological office announced early this morning (July 16th), that typhoon "Conson" is forecast to hit the cities of Qionghai and Sanya in Hainan Province as early as noon today. Although the typhoon will not have a direct impact on Guangdong, it is expected to bring heavy rain to western Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta region over the weekend, marking the end of 15 consecutive days of extremely hot weather.
