People Emphasized in GD's Future Economic Restructuring During the next five-year plan from 2011 to 2015, Guangdong will focus more on the people. It was Mr. Wang Yang, the Secretary of Guangdong's CPC Committee who announced this recently whilst meeting with the province's National People's Congress (NPC) representatives. Wang said, over the next five years, their work shall focus on six areas so as to promote economic restructuring and accelerate the transformation of the economic development model. He noted that the people needs shall be made a new priority.
Rains Expected this Weekend, Pulling Down the Fever The tropical storm, Conson, is expected to hit western Guangdong tomorrow (July 16th) night. Though its intensity has deceased after passing after the Philippines, this tropical storm is still moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour. If its speed stays unchanged, the storm is likely to escalate into a typhoon. Affected by the storm, today (July 15th) southern Guangdong will begin to see rain which shall spread to the rest of the province by tomorrow bringing the mercury tumbling down after weeks of scorching heat.

GZ's City-wide Fitness Campaign Regulations to Carry out Next Month Regulations aiming to promote Guangzhou's city-wide fitness campaign will be put into effect on the 8th August. The regulation is the first of its kind in Guangzhou. These rules will see the city-wide fitness campaign integrated into the city's economic and social development plans. In addition, the regulation also specify that at least 60% of the profits from the sports lottery welfare should be used in the city-wide campaign.
