GD's Emergency Response Regulations Effective, 30,000 People to be Employed to Offer Information
New emergency response regulations were implemented at the beginning this month in Guangzhou. The sound application of these regulations shall be integrated into the evaluation for government officials at county-level and above. More from our reporter Li Hui:
Mr. Ji Jiaqi, the director of the provincial emergency response office, introduced the new regulations.
"We will hire 30,000 people across the province to collect and report to us relevant information."
Ji also said that on-site headquarters will be established in places where emergency takes place. These headquarters will be authorized to mobilize all resources available in handling the emergency.


Tropical Storm Conson Likely to be the First Typhoon this Year to Hit GD
Typhoon Conson is expected to enter the south China sea today (July 14th), and will approach the coastal areas of Guangdong. According to the provincial meteorological office, it is very likely to become the first typhoon to hit Guangdong this year. The typhoon is expected to bring rain over the weekend pulling temperatures down across the province.



GD's Import and Export for the First Half of 2010 Up 34%
The Guangdong Customs published yesterday (July 13th) the data of Guangdong's imports and exports in the first two quarters of 2010, which reached 345 billion US dollars, nearly 34% higher than the same periods last year. From January to June, Guangdong's main trading partners were Hong Kong, the European Union, the USA, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Japan and Taiwan. Both imports and exports have seen double-digit growths.
