Chinese man who gunned down two policemen arrested The man who allegedly shot dead two traffic police officers in eastern Guangdong's Jieyang city will be sent to Guangdong under police escort tonight (July 9). Hu Yihua, the suspect, was arrested in a joint police operation in the southeast port city of Xiamen, Fujian province. A Lexus sedan that Hu had allegedly stolen, a loaded pistol and the identity cards of the slain police officers were found in Hu's possession. Police said Hu was a suspect in at least two murder cases. Whilst sleeping in the sedan at a highway service zone in Jieyang Monday night, Hu was stopped by the two officers. He shot them dead and fled to Fujian.
Slight Quake rocks Jiangmen This morning at around 5:30 AM, 4 consecutive earthquakes took place between Taishan and Yangdong County in Yangjiang. All four earthquakes were minor, with the strongest measuring only 3.1 on the Richter Scale. People living in the area felt the earthquake and some even fled to the street. No deaths nor damage has been reported.
KMT delegation arrives in mainland for cross-Strait forum A delegation from the Kuomintang (KMT) Party in Taiwan led by chairman Wu Po-hsiung, arrived in Guangzhou today (July 9) to attend a cross-straits economic and cultural forum. The Forum is a regular conference between the KMT and the Communist Party of China (CPC), will concentrate on cross-straits cooperation in green energies, energy conservation and environmental protection. The plenary meeting will be held Saturday and Sunday in Guangzhou.

GD Still Under the Grip of Heat Wave Over the Weekend The Guangdong Metrological office predicts that tomorrow (July 10th) showers and thunderstorms are expected in parts of the province. However, the weather will still remain very hot over the weekend.
