GD Week Features the Lion Dance at the Shanghai World Expo The Shanghai World Expo, scheduled to open on May 1st, will organize a special "Guangdong Week", between July 28th and August 1st. Over 70 performances will be presented to visitors during this event. More from our reporter Luo Su:
Visitors can experience Guangdong culture during this week with traditional handicrafts on display, and a folkloric cultural parade. Du Zuoxiang, the deputy Director General of Guangdong's Cultural Department told us, 
" The shows shall include Cantonese opera, Chao-dialect opera, puppet shows and shadow puppets. As for folkloric dancing, we will have lion dancing and the dragon dancing. "

Cooperation between GD, HK and Macao Emphasizes Six Focuses
Cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will be reinforced this year in six specific areas. Guangdong Deputy Governor Lei Yulan made this statement at the third Pearl River Symposium in Macao yesterday (April 22nd). She said that in addition to economic and trade cooperation, focus will be put on infrastructure and urban planning. What's more, the three regions pledge to step up efforts to tighten links between each other and offer a better living environment for the residents.

GD Experiences Intensive Precipitation
Yesterday (April 22nd) Guangdong experienced the most intensive rainfall so far this year. The provincial meteorological department issued 36 torrential rain warning signals, marking the beginning of Guangdong's rainy season which seriously increases the risk of flooding. Affected by the heavy rainfall, water levels rose considerably in Xijiang river and Beijiang river and levels are expected to continue rising over the next two days.
