First phase of 107th Canton Fair Business up 20%

Yesterday (19th), the first phase of the 107th Canton Fair, which was displaying electronic appliances, chemical products, machinery and so on, came to an end. For this phase, exhibitors from the Guangdong pavilion saw business increase by 20% compared to last year. The second phase of the fair will begin this Friday and 6,884 exhibitors will be presenting consumer goods, gifts and home decorations. Hopefully the cloud of volcanic ashes currently grounding European planes will dissipate in time.


34.14 Million Donations for Qinghai in Guangdong

As of yesterday (19th), Guangdong has managed to raise 34.14 million Yuan of donations for the reconstruction of Qinghai. The money was collected from the public and charities as well as from the Guangdong NPC standing committee members, who donated over 100,000 Yuan.


Two Suspects Arrested for Slaughtering Pigs and Selling Pork without Authorization
Yesterday (19th) in Conghua, police discovered the secret location of where two individuals are thought to have slaughtered pigs without a proper license. The two suspects were arrested for slaughtering pigs and selling pork without authorization. At the site was also found 450 kilograms of poor quality pork destined for local markets. Other dead pigs were also found floating in a drain nearby.
