SZ-DG-HZ to be Linked Closer
The three cities of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huizhou held their fourth joint meeting in Shenzhen yesterday (April 8th) during which they agreed to accelerate the development of common wastewater treatment plants. What's more, to accelerate the integration of the three cities in a similar way to Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhaoqing, tickets on inter-city buses will get cheaper and it is probable that a annual toll pass valid in all three cities will be implemented in the close future.

GZ Opera House Puts on First Audition
Guangzhou Opera House held its first ever show last night (April 9th), presenting classic opera pieces such as Turandot and La Dame aux Camelias, in front of an audience of 800 construction workers, the ones who actually built the Opera House. In their blue and orange work uniforms, the workers were the first to get a glimpse of Guangzhou's new landmark in action:
"We are very proud of having been involved in building this opera house. As far as I known, few will later be able to affordable a ticket as it is such an elegant place. I am so happy we get the change to go inside and visit it."
Designed by British architect Zaha Hadid, Guangzhou Opera House is the third largest opera house following the Beijing National Grand Theater and Shanghai Grand Theater.

Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease Cases Expected to Have Upsurge
According to the Guangdong Health Department, over 20,000 cases of hand-foot-and-mouth disease have been reported since the beginning of this year. Most cases are mild; however four boys from Dongguan have died. He Jianfeng from the Guangdong Disease Control and Prevention Center said such an epidemic mainly hit children under three years old. He added that the number of cases is now on the rise and that this shall continue until the end of July or the beginning of August. The number of cases last year hit over 90,000 people in Guangdong alone.
