115 Rescued in Wangjialing Mine Accident As of 6pm yesterday (5th) 115 miners trapped in Shanxi Province's Wangjialing Mine were rescued, whilst another 38 were still trapped. Earlier on Mar 28th, the coal mine was flooded and rescuers have spent the week pumping out water in hope of finding survivors. The 115 miners rescued are currently being treated in hospital and they are reported to be recovering. No deaths have yet been announced.

GZ Sees Record High Number of Tomb-Sweepers in Qingming Festival Yesterday (5th) was Qing Ming Festival, the time of the year for the Chinese to commemorate the dead. In Guangzhou, people started tomb-sweeping 2 days before the festival and yesterday (5th) alone 1.32 million visited the city's cemeteries. This surge is expected to continue throughout May.
No Injuries or Deaths Reported of Chinese in Tragic Mexicali Earthquake The Mexican city of Mexicali will be declared a "disaster zone" after an earthquake shocked the zone on Sunday afternoon, killing two people and leaving considerable damages. Baja California's governor, Jose Guadalupe Osuna announced this yesterday (5th). According to preliminary reports, apart from the two deaths, the earthquake injured over 230 people and caused structural damage to buildings, streets and highways, mainly in Mexicali Valley. No injuries or deaths have been reported amongst the Chinese community.
