Zhongshan-Vietnam Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair Opens
The Zhongshan-Vietnam Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair opened at the Zhongshan Exhibition Center yesterday (March 28), attended by a 200-member delegation led by the Vietnamese minister of commerce and trade. Our journalist Lan Fuhua has the details:
Over the past 2 decades, trade between Guangdong and Vietnam has soared 100 times. Last year, in spite of the global financial crisis, bilateral trade still recorded a year-on-year increase of 35%. A representative of the Vietnamese delegation said she is confident in the two sides' cooperation perspective thanks to the Sino-ASEAN free trade zone.
" The Chinese market is a huge market with great potential. I am very confident."

Guangzhou Port Ranks 6th Worldwide
Guangzhou Port ranked sixth worldwide in 2009 in terms of both container throughput and cargo traffic. The port's container throughput rose in 2009 despite an overall decline in container throughput in ports across the country. In 2009, Guangzhou Port handled 375 million tons of cargo, up 4.4% year-on-year.

Metro Line 5 to run faster
In April, Guangzhou Metro plans to increase the speed on line five and cut the time between each train down by 35 seconds. In addition, to provide more parking lots around metro stations, the company has built 122 parking lots underneath aerial metro stations.
