153 trapped in flooded mine 153 people are still trapped underground after a coal mine was flooded with water in northern China's Shanxi Province. According to the rescue headquarters, 261 workers were in the pit of the state-owned Wangjialing Coal Mine which was still being built when underground water gushed in at about 1:40 pm. 108 workers were lifted to safety but another 153 were trapped in the shaft. President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao ordered local authorities to spare no efforts in the search and rescue operations and sent Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang to supervise them.

Polo Sea God Birthday attract big crowd Over the weekend, the traditional temple festivities celebrating the birthday of Polo, the god of the South China Sea, offered visitors a rare chance to watch this special ceremony. Our journalist Wang Jiangping was amidst the crowd. The ceremony of "Sea Gods' five sons paying their respect" was the highlight of the celebration. A long parade joined by warriors and guards wearing colorful ancient costumes attracted a large crowd. One lady travelled all the way from Shunde to attend the event: " it's the first time I come, it feels great."

Nearly 90% of this foreign capital is from Asian countries.
