GZ Celebrates Birth of Polo Today the 6th Guangzhou Folk Art Festival kicked off, along with the opening of the traditional temple festivities celebrating the birthday of Polo, the sea god. A series of traditional activities will be held in the Sea God temple in Huangpu District during the 7-day event. One of the many unique activities on display shall be Polo chicken, a figurine made with cardboard and clay, decorated with colorful chicken feathers.

GD Plans to Set Up Drought Defense Information Network The once-in-a-century drought is currently affecting the provinces of Yunnan and Guizhou, and this has rung an alarm bell in Guangdong. The province plans to invest over 34 million yuan to set up a drought supervision system. GD Launches Chartered Flights and Exclusive Train Services Finally good news for Guangdong holiday makers. CITS Guangdong announced yesterday (Mar 25th) the beginning of charted flights and exclusive train services for travelers wanting to visit the World Expo which shall take place in Shanghai this year. The first exclusive train will leave Guangzhou on April 30th and tickets shall cost around 110 to 130 yuan During the World Expo which commences on May 1st, a maximum of 8 million travelers from Guangdong are expected to visit the expo.
