Domestic Purchasing Zone Ousted from Canton Fair
The 107th Canton Fair will open in Guangzhou on April 15th. The organizers have received a high demand for booths, a sign of a strong rebound in the global economy. But in spite of these good signs, the fair will continue to explore opportunities on the domestic market. However, this year no special purchasing zone will be set up for domestic buyers. Domestic buyers can visit exporters just like any other purchaser. The Secretary-general of the Fair, Wang Zhiping said:

"Many more domestic buyers will be able to negotiate deals by directly visiting the supplier's booth. We think it's better for them to take an active role, instead of simply waiting in a special purchasing zone. We plan to invite big companies because their purchasing power is huge compared to small enterprises."
 

Electric Vehicle Industry becomes new strategic industry
The Electric Vehicle Industry (EV) is thought to become a new strategic industry in Guangdong. According to a document on the development of the electric vehicle industry issued by the Guangdong government, in the next 10 years, the government aims to build the province into a world-leading EV production center with many brand-name products and advanced technology. Beginning this year, EV will be listed into the government's purchase commodities, and citizens are expected to start using electric cars within the next 5 years.
