No New Cement Factories until End of Year The Guangdong Government yesterday (8th) issued a new plan to deal with air pollution in the PRD which became effective immediately. The plan states that in order to hold greener Asian Games and the 2011 World University Games, more efforts should be exerted to ensure good air quality, including new measures forbidding new cement factories from opening until the end of the year. The Guangdong Government also said that although in recent years the number of polluting particles in the air has decreased, pollution due to acid rain is still serious.
China Enhances Land Management Via Remote Sensing Images. Starting this month, China will use remote sensing images received by satellite to supervise cultivated land across Chinese mainland. The authorities will mainly focus on the management of the land to see whether the land is properly cultivated or protected.
