Wuhan-Guangzhou Railway: Ticket prices announced
Prices for the new high speed railway connecting central China¡¯s Wuhan city and Guangzhou have been set, with a first class seat costing 780 yuan and the 2nd class 490 yuan. The train, called the PDL (passenger dedicated lines), will go into service on Dec. 26th. During last week¡¯s test run, the train reached speeds of up to 394 kilometers per hour, making it one of the fastest trains in the world. In is also the longest high speed railway in the world, stretching 1,069 kilometers. Three hours after leaving Guangzhou, the train arrived in Wuhan.

Guangzhou Art Fair Attracts Visitors and Business 
Over the weekend, up to 150,000 people visited the 14th Guangzhou International Art Fair. It opened last Thursday (December 10) at the Baiyun International Convention Center. During the first four days, the fair welcomed over 200,000 visitors, with sales totaling nearly 60 million yuan. Chinese paintings and oil paintings created by famous European artists have been the best sellers at the fair. Today is the final day of the exhibition.

Man arrested after village massacre
A young man in his 30s armed with two shotguns, a cleaver and a torch allegedly hunted down his family on Saturday, killing 12, in a mountain village in central China's Hunan province. Liu Aibing, 34, a villager from the town of Gaoming, Anhua county, in the province's city of Yiyang, was arrested early yesterday morning (December 13) nearly six kilometers from the scene of his alleged rampage which took the lives of his father, uncles and cousins. Two other relatives are in a critical condition and at least six homes have been razed to ashes. According to Xinhua News Agency, Liu had been diagnosed with mental illness. Several relatives of the victims, however, reject the claim that Liu was mentally ill.

Overseas tours proving popular for Chinese New Year
With the Chinese New Year just two months away, people are already planning their trips for the 7-day golden week. At the tourism promotion fair which opened in Guangzhou yesterday (December 13), overseas tour packages were proving very popular. The most popular destinations included Dubai and Tahiti. During the public holidays from February 13 to 18, 21 planes for overseas tours will be chartered in Guangdong. Insiders estimate that the total numbers of flights could reach a record figure of 100.

Cold front to arrive in Guangdong
Cold weather is hitting Guangdong today, and the temperature will begin to drop tomorrow. The cold front will also bring occasional rainfall to northern Guangdong, which is expected to clear the fog and haze.
