H1N1 Flu Cases On the Rise in GD As of last night (Dec 1st), the number of confirmed AH1N1 flu cases has risen in the last week by 1,434 to 7,316 patients, amongst which 10 people have died. As of yesterday (Dec. 1st), over 500,000 people in Guangdong had received the vaccine, over 20% of them being students. But concern has arisen concerning the negative effects of the vaccine. 4 people have died in China after receiving it although the ministry of health claims the death of 3 of these victims was unrelated to the vaccine. The Guangdong Health Department announced its evaluation of the epidemic, indicating that currently the AH1N1 flu is now prevailing only within the community.
PRD Traffic Integration Implemented The Guangdong Traffic Department announced yesterday that over the next five years, the PRD will fully integrate the different cities' traffic management systems. More from our reporter Li Hui: An annual road toll pass available throughout the PRD shall be made available by 2012, which means that car owners will pay less when traveling within the region. This measure will start in Zhuhai, Jiangmen and Zhongshan before spreading to the rest of the PRD. What's more, if you hold a bus travel card, you'll soon be able to use it to travel between PRD cities and within the cities themselves.
GZ to Launch More Houses for Low-Income Families Starting yesterday (Dec 1st) the latest batch of economical houses was put on the market in Guangzhou. Our reporter spoke to some citizens who all said the latest homes in downtown Guangzhou are much more convenient then the previous ones in the suburbs. The Guangzhou government has said that next year, 30,000 houses will be made available for low-income families, and all of them are located in the central districts.
