Retail goods grow significantly
A senior official from the Ministry of Commerce stated the economic policies to boost consumption have been very effective. Subsidies to encourage the sales of electronic appliances and cars have proven successful and the total revenue generated from retail sales of consumer goods have risen by 15% year-on-year.

Dubai whack for Wenzhou merchants
Wenzhou businessmen, usually considered the most active and eagle-eyed business people in China, may be hit the hardest by Dubai World's default on its debt repayments. Experts believe Wenzhou businessmen's investments in Dubai hover around five billion yuan($732.4 million), and their losses due to the debt crisis will probably exceed one billion yuan. The Dubai crisis erupted last week when the emirate state said its investment arm, Dubai World, would not be able to meet payments on time on some of its $59 billion debt.

GZ to Launch More Houses for Low-Income Families
Starting yesterday (Dec 1st) the latest batch of economical houses was put on the market in Guangzhou. Our reporter spoke to some citizens who all said the latest homes in downtown Guangzhou are much more convenient then the previous ones in the suburbs. The Guangzhou government has said that next year, 30,000 houses will be made available for low-income families, and all of them are located in the central districts.
