GZ & HK Jockey Club Build Equestrian Venue The Guangzhou Government today signed a memorandum with the Hong Kong Jockey Club to collaborate on the construction of the equestrian venue which shall serve next year's Asian Games. According to the memorandum, the equestrian venue will be re-modeled on an old stadium in CongHua. When the Asian Games begin, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will provide technological support and consultancy services to GAGOC.
GD & New Zealand to Deepen Cooperation in Tourism This morning, Guangdong vice Governor Wan Qingliang met with New Zealand's ambassador to China, Mr Karl Worker, in Guangzhou. The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation in many areas including tourism, trade, agriculture and education. Wan said New Zealand has always been an important trading partner for Guangdong but that there is still a lot of room for cooperation between the two, especially in tourism.
GD Marine Silk Road Museum Opens Today for Trial Period The Guangdong Marine Silk Road Museum, which houses the 800-year-old merchant vessel dating back to the southern Song Dynasty, opened for a trial period today until the 18th. Located in Yangjiang, on Hailing Island, this 130,000-square-meter museum is Asia's only underwater archeological museum. People can now visit the museum for only 40 yuan, that's half the price it will cost when the museum shall be officially opens at the end of the year.

Sinopec Cleans Up Its Petroleum Sinopec Guangzhou said yesterday that starting next year, every month they will be able to produce 180,000 tons of Beijing-Standard IV petroleum. Compared to the National-Standard III, Standard IV generates 2/3 less sulphuric pollution. However, as its production cost is 200 Yuan more expensive per ton it is likely to only be promoted in Guangzhou.
