GD Compeletes 333 Aid Projects for Wenchuan A ceremony was held yesterday (December 3) in Wenchuan county in Sichuan, to mark the completion of 333 construction projects sponsored by the Guangdong government after the catastrophic earthquake struck the region last year. In 2008, Guangdong pledged to allocate 8.2 billion yuan to support the reconstruction of Wenchuan county, with over 80% of the funds going to projects closely related to people's livelihood. The 333 finished projects include houses, roads, hospitals, and water distribution networks, culture and sports venues, public services and logistics for farmers. The secretary of Guangdong CPC Committee Wang Yang attended the ceremony and inspected the finished projects.

Construction of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge to begin Construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will begin on December 15th, starting with the construction of the man-made island connecting the bridge to Zhuhai and the Macao Check point. The island is scheduled to be finished in 3 years. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project, which is a series of bridges, tunnels and roads, will rival the longest bridges in the world, and is designed to connect more closely Hong Kong with Macao and the Mainland. The main construction of the bridge is planned to start next year with some details still being designed. Five sentenced to death in Urumqi, 7 to be prosecuted Five more people have been sentenced to death for their involvement in the bloody riots that shook the capital of the Xinjiang in July. In total, 13 suspects were tried on Thursday (December 3) at the Urumqi Intermediate Court. The five convicted rioters sentenced to death are all Uygur men. Two other suspects were sentenced to life in prison and six others were given jail terms, though the details of the jail terms were not released yesterday. It's been nearly two months since a first group of rioters was tried and so far 34 suspects have been prosecuted as of yesterday. Today, seven more suspects will be prosecuted.
