Official: no A/H1N1 cases of Tamiflu Resistance and Mutation The US have reported some A/H1N1 patients developing a resistance to Tamiflu, the A/H1N1 vaccine, and the British health department has said the virus may have mutated. However, the Director of the Guangdong Disease Control Center, Zhang Yonghui, said Guangdong has yet seen any such case. Our journouralist Luo Su has the details: Zhang said it isn't surprising to see A/H1N1 cases resisting Tamiflu: [record] this result had been predicted from the beginning. But we have a different strategy from the US and the UK as we don't use Tamiflu at a large scale. We seldom use it Tamiflu for prevention and are quite prudent when we using it for treatment. So I believe it won't cause serious problems in the close future. As for news of the virus mutating, Zhang said: [record] we have learned from the WTO that the mutation is minor and rare. There is yet no evidence showing this is a major mutation. Guangdong is strictly monitoring the disease and no mutation has been found so far.
