GD Health Department: A/H1N1 in Full Swing The Guangdong Health Department said yesterday that the A/H1N1 virus is now in full swing in Guangdong. The director of the health department Yao Zhibing pointed out that the flu has become an epidemic in living communities across Guangdong and that the number of serious cases now represents 2.43% of all A/H1N1 cases. Experts have raised alarm, saying that the number of influenza cases has been seriously underestimated and that the official number of deaths is far lower that the real number. What's more, experts predict that more deaths related to the A/H1N1 flu may be on the way.
Low Temperatures Freezes Electric Wires in Northern GD Affected by the ongoing low temperatures in Guangdong, power transmission towers and electric wires in some of Shaoguan's mountainous areas are said to have been covered with ice. The power supply bureau has therefore initiated an emergency plan to ensure power supply in those areas, including real-time surveillance and sending patrols to monitor key spots.
