Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Construction to Begin Soon
The Guangdong Government announced yesterday that construction on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will begin in the first half of December. It is scheduled to be completed no later than 2016 and this project will cost a total of 72.6 billion yuan.

GD's Oil Price Rise to a Record High
Oil prices have risen again in Guangdong. The new prices have been effective since this morning (Oct 11) and vehicle owners will now have to pay a record high of 7 Yuan per liter for gasoline, that's nearly a 0.5 Yuan increase. So far this year, drivers in Guangdong have seen prices go up five times. Unfortunately for pedestrians and city dwellers, Guangzhou and other main cities in the province are still over crowded with cars.

The 18th Asian Athletics Championships Begins in GZ
The 18th Asian Athletics Championships began in Guangzhou yesterday (Nov 10th) at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center. The world record holder and Olympic gold medalist Liu Xiang is in Guangzhou to take part in the championships. He will make his first appearance tomorrow in the preliminary contest for 110 meter hurdle. If he wins the gold medal, he will be automatically qualified to attend the World Cup Athletics, scheduled to be held in the Republic of Croatia.
