Vaccine is the key to defeat H1N1 flu After rumors of miracle safety masks preventing contamination with the A/H1N1 virus, Zhong Nanshan, one of China's leading researchers has stated once more that there "is still a high risk that the flu transforms" and that the vaccine is still today the best way to protect oneself from contamination. Our reporter Luo Su has more: "The vaccine will start to be active two weeks after the inoculation. Primary and secondary school students are a high risk group." Zhong also reminds people that, "People suffering from: high fever or a suddenly decline in health, especially of the respiratory system, should immediately seek attention from their closest hospital."
International Sister Cities Conference Opens in Guangzhou Starting this Thursday (Nov. 12th), over 60 mayors from around the world will gather in Guangzhou to attend two conferences, the United Cities and Local Governments World Council Meetings and Guangzhou International Sisters Cities Conferences. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the friendship ties between Guangzhou and its first sister city. Guangzhou now has 22 sister cities across the globe.
GD's Oil Price Rise to a Record High Oil prices have risen again in Guangdong. The new prices have been effective since this morning (Oct 11) and vehicle owners will now have to pay a record high of 7 Yuan per liter for gasoline, that's nearly a 0.5 Yuan increase. So far this year, drivers in Guangdong have seen prices go up five times. Unfortunately for pedestrians and city dwellers, Guangzhou and other main cities in the province are still over crowded with cars.
