GZ Customs: GZ Foreign Trade Volume Slows Decreasing Pace The latest data issued by Guangzhou Customs shows that over the past 9 months, the decrease rate of Guangzhou's foreign trade has been getting smaller and smaller. The total volume stands at 54 billion US dollars, down by 13.5% from the same period in 2008 but nevertheless, 7.4% lower than the national decrease rate.
Satisfaction Rate Improving for GD Power Suppliers A recent survey of Guangdong citizens' approval of the province's service sector was revealed today (Oct. 29). Power suppliers rank in first place whilst transportation ends at the bottom of the list. Those conducting the survey explained that on-going road repair works is what caused the most dissatisfaction amongst residents. However, the report does show that most people in Guangzhou are satisfied with the metro service. Other sectors that ranked high were telecommunications, civil aviation, banking, and water supply.

GD's First Cantonese Food Summit to be Held on Nov 13th As an important part of the Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival to be held next month, the first Cantonese Food Summit will take place on Nov. 13th in Guangzhou. Our reporter Liang Chunmei has more: The food summit aims at strengthening Cantonese food as a real industry so as to promote tourism in Guangdong. The secretary general of the summit, Mr. Xian Feng, said: "This summit will accelerate the standardization of Guangdong's tourism and food industry and help improve the general quality of the staff working in the industry. " During the summit, 100 best Cantonese restaurants, 100 best Cantonese chefs and 100 best Cantonese dishes will be chosen.
