GZ Sees Surge in Visitors Climbing Mountains Prior to Chongyang Festival Today (Oct 26th) is Chongyang Festival, also known as Double Nine Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese lunar calendar. On this day, it is a custom to climb up a mountain with friends and family and drink chrysanthemum wine. Starting yesterday afternoon, Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou saw a surge in the number of visitors, with over 70,000 people passing through park's gates. More from our reporter Fangyan: Ms. Qin said she believes climbing the mountain on Chongyang Festival will bring her good luck: "I hope to see my career and my family life improve. I also wish the best of luck to everybody." In addition to Baiyun Mountain, the city's other 14 parks, such as Lian'hua mountain, Maofeng Mountain, Fenghuang Mountain and Dajiao Mountain, are fully prepared to receive such an important number of climbers. What's more, with an increasing number of people lighting Kongming lanterns which are paper-made hot-air balloon, the city has sadly decided to ban them during the festival.
