11th National Games Open With High Hopes For Guangdong
In Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province, the opening ceremony of the 11th National Games takes place tonight (Oct 16th) at 8 pm. But before the ceremony a few competitions are already underway. For now, in the early stages, the Guangdong delegation ranks four on the gold medal list.  According to Wang Yuping, the deputy director-general of the Guangdong Sports Administration, Guangdong's goal of entering the top three in terms of gold medals has not changed.

Developers to be Introduced to Guangzhou's Low-Rent House Administrative System
Guangzhou is currently reviewing the mechanism in place for granting the city's low-rent houses. Recently, the deputy director of Guangzhou's Housing Bureau, Huang Xinjing, revealed that in the near future, developers could be introduced into the low-rent house administrative systems. In response to the growing number of complaints from citizens saying it's hard to get a one of the city's low-rent apartments, Huang answered that the lengthy procedure is caused by the two procedures people are obliged to undergo and which can take up to 3 or 4 months.
 
Former GZ Maritime Court President Dismissed due to Extravagant Spending on Business Trip
Yesterday, at a meeting of the Guangzhou CPC standing committee, the former president of the Guangzhou Maritime Court, Mr. Luo Guohua, was dismissed from his position, due to extravagant spending during a business trip abroad. Yesterday, during the press conference, the maritime court confirmed that 6 officials including Luo Guohua had spent almost 500,000 Yuan during a 12-day business trip to South Africa, Egypt and Turkey.
