Wang: Drinking Water Safety the Top Concern amid Drought
Yesterday (Oct 8th), a Guangdong government delegation led by the Secretary of Guangdong's CPC Committee Wang Yang inspected the drought-hit city of Qingyuan. Wang insisted that to guarantee safe drinking water was the top priority in the undergoing drought relief work. This year, the average rainfall has decreased by over 10% compared with previous years. The situation gets worse in Eastern and Northern Guangdong with drops of nearly 30%. The town of Taiping in Qingyuan saw the 800,000 cubic meter Beikang reservoir, completely dried out. The county¡¯s drought relief team is now taking spring water to ease pressure on water supply.

In China, safety conditions are always under the spotlight during the holidays. Over the last National Day golden week, no important accidents have been reported in Guangdong. According to the manufacturing Committee Office, there has been an over 20% drop in the number of small accidents during the 8-day break.
