Guangzhou Government Undergoes Reform After Shenzhen and Shunde, Guangzhou will also restructure its organization in a bid to cut redundancy and increase efficiency. The municipality announced a government reform proposal today (September 24) to cut the number of government bodies by 2, which would be a much more drastic change than Shenzhen and Shunde governments. For the time being the details of the plan haven't been published, so it is yet too early to see what this reform will really change. The key of this reform as it has been presented to the media is to set up a city management commission with more power to manage urban sanitation, city management, and gas industries.
96.1% of moon cakes pass quality checks The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, will fall on October 3rd this year. The provincial food quality watchdog announced the results of checks made on moon cakes yesterday (September 23), which showed that 96 % of products tested meet the required standard. The survey checked 102 batches of moon cakes. Whilst most are fine to eat, 33 batches failed to meet the requirements which would allow them to be label as quality labels.
Precious artifacts from Sanxingdui Displayed in GZ 156 precious artifacts from Sichuan unearthed during archeological explorations in Sanxingdui are on display in Guangzhou since yesterday (Sep. 23), in the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty. The Sanxingdui site was the capital of the Shu state over 3000 years ago. Today, it's one of the largest and well-preserved cities of the time. Most of the exhibits are magnificent bronze sculptures including the famous Bronze Protruding-eye Mask.

A/H1N1 Vaccines to be Inoculated in PRD after National Day Holidays The vice-director of the Guangdong disease control and prevention center, Mr Lin Jin Yan, yesterday (23rd) revealed that the Chinese manufactured vaccine against A/H1N1 will be given to the population in Guangdong, especially in the PRD, after the National Day Holidays. This shall be done on a voluntary basis and shall be free of charge, the Guangdong government covering the expenses. However, the health department yesterday (Sep 23rd) said that people allergic to eggs, and those under the age of 3 or who already have a fever or a cold will not be inoculated.
