Trade Volume between GD and ASEAN Rises since 8 Months
According to the latest figures released by the provincial custom, the trade volume of import and export between Guangdong and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) totaled 5.56 billion USD in August, up 0.03% compared to the same period last year. Although small, this is the first rise since last November. The trade volume between Guangdong and ASEAN totaled 37.43 billion USD from January to August leading ASEAN to become Guangdong¡¯s forth largest trade partner.
2nd Guangzhou-Foshan Joint Mayor Meeting to be Held this Friday
Yesterday (Sep 21st), Foshan mayor Chen Yunxian revealed during a press conference that the 2nd joint mayors meeting between Foshan and Guangzhou will take place in Foshan this Friday. The two areas shall exchange on issues concerning the unifications of the two cities such as transportation, logistics, finance and so on. According to information given during the press conference, as of today, only 9 out of the 52 ongoing cooperation projects between Guangzhou and Foshan have been completed.
1 Billion RMB One Invested in Datansha Liquid Crystal City
Construction of the 1 billion RMB China Liquid Crystal City located on Datansha Island, also called the "Photoelectric Island", kicked off recently. Over the next 5 years, this project plans to increase the business volume to about 30 billion Yuan and position the area as the world's largest assembly zone and service platform for the flat panel display industry. The 300,000 sq.m. China Liquid Crystal City will attract over 30,000 high-tech talents to support the development of the Liwan District.
Int'l Fashion Festival Opens on Sept. 23
The 2009 China Liuhua International Fashion Festival and Guangdong Fashion Week are due to open in Guangzhou tomorrow. According to the organizers, this year's fashion festival will be a weeklong fashion extravaganza showcasing in particular a series called "China Wind", a trendy fashion to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic.
