The Tallest Building to Stand in Pazhou-Yuancun Area A new building is to be erected in Pazhou district which would make it the tallest building in Guangzhou, even higher than the West Tower. Information issued during a real estate expo today (September 18) revealed that a 500-meter tall building is included in the overall layout plan of Pazhou's Central Business District (CBD). In addition, Guangzhou plans to build 3 cross-river tunnels to connect Zhujiang New City, Yuancun and Pazhou.

SME Fair Receives Large Number of Applicants The 6th China Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Fair, to be held next Tuesday (September 22), has received an unexpected response from attendants in spite of the global financial crisis. The organizers said during a press conference today that the number of companies applying to exhibit at the fair exceeds by 13% the number of booths available. Over 4,600 booths have been booked by domestic companies and over 1,500 booked by overseas enterprises. So far, more than 160,000 attendants have signed up to the fair, that's 50% more than last year. The organizers believe the fair will offer SMEs important opportunities for direct financing totaling up to 20 billion USD.
Hotel Prices to Soar 50% to 100% during Canton Fair As always, hotel prices will soar during the upcoming Canton Fair which opens in Mid-October. According to statistics from a well-known hotel booking agent ctrip.com, hotel prices in Guangzhou will rise 50% to 100%, similar to the previous session in May. The average price for a room in 5-star hotels is between 1,000 and 1,200 Yuan, whilst the price for a 4-star hotel is 600 to 700 Yuan.
