China picks astronaut candidates, 15 female
A preliminary selection of candidates to become China's second batch of astronauts has been completed. The 45 candidates are all air force pilots and include 30 men and 15 women. The authorities said yesterday (September 17) that out of the 45 candidates, five men and two women will be chosen to join the space program. This is the first time China has allowed women to take part in the selection.

Construction Work on Hengqin Island Progresses Smoothly
Zhuhai vice-mayor, He Ningka, revealed yesterday (Sep 17th) that the development of HengQin Island is progressing smoothly. He also said they intend to attract more financial entities from Hong Kong and Macau to invest on HengQin, and that the principles directing the island's management will be energy efficiency.

Another 361 Scenic Spots Now Open for Free
The Guangdong Price Control Bureau has announced that another 361 scenic spots will be open for free, which puts the total number of free scenic spots in Guangdong at 535. This move shall save citizens an estimated 800 million Yuan annually.
