Employment for migrant workers improves in Q2 According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the employment situation of China's rural migrant workers has improved slightly, with 151 million people employed outside their hometowns at the end of June, up 2.6% from the first quarter. Rural migrant workers are mainly employed in the manufacturing and construction sectors, which account, respectively, for 37.9% and 18.3% of the total migrant work force according to the NBS and the Human Resources and Social Security Ministry.
2009 Guangdong International Tourism Exhibition to Open in November The 2009 Guangdong International Tourism Exhibition will be held at the Poly Trade Center Expo in Pazhou, in Guangzhou's Haizhu district from November 14 to 16. There shall be nearly 800 booths open during the expo, with numerous theme exhibitions and over 20 live performances.
China's largest property developer to raise 11.2 bln yuan Vanke, the China's largest property developer, plans to raise 11.2 billion yuan (about 1.6 billion U.S. dollars) selling additional shares. The company plans to use 9.2 billion yuan from the sale to build 14 residential projects across the country and use the remaining 2 billion yuan to strengthen its capital flow.
Golden Coast Tour Festival attract more exhibitors The 8th Shenzhen Golden Coast Tour Festival will open Sept. 27, just days ahead of the National Day holidays. The opening of the two-month festival also marks the 29th World Tourism Day. A boat show will also be held which should draw 200 exhibitors from 20 countries with 100 boats. The exhibition area will expand to 10,000 square meters, three times bigger than last year.
