7 GD Cities Compete for Funding for Industrial Transfer
An assessment meeting will be held today (Sep 15th) in Guangzhou to select the last batch of cities which shall get funding from the provincial government to carry out their industrial-transfer. The seven cities competing for the 1.5 billion Yuan fund are Heyuan, Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Huizhou, Shanwei, Zhanjiang and Maoming.

GD's New Rural Social Pension Scheme to Cover 10% of Rural Areas by 2020
Yesterday (Sep 14th) at a meeting concerning the new rural pensions scheme, Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua said that in the second half of this year, the new scheme will undergo a trial. In the first phase, 10% of the province's rural population will benefit from the move and that shall be slowly extended to the rest of the province by 2020. The new pension scheme functions thanks to subsidies from local governments in addition to individual premium payments.

2nd Names Given to Yuexiu's 18 Historical Spots
Yesterday (Sep 14th), experts gathered to find new additional names for 18 historical spots in Yuexiu district, in a aim to promote the district' heritage. This  campaign is entitled "Ancient & Modern Yuexiu---Discover the Best of Yuexiu". The experts believe for instance that Beijing Lu would best be called "Double-Door Ancient Lane" so that the name informs of the particular characteristics of each spot. Citizens can now log on to yuexiu.gov.cn to vote for their favorite spots and names, but some how, we can ask ourselves if these new names will really be used in everyday conversations.
