China launches Inquiry into U.S. Protectionism China has launched an investigation into alleged subsidies and product dumping in the United States. The investigation concerns some automobile and chicken products and the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced on Sunday (September 13) that the investigation follows complaints from Chinese manufacturers who believe they face "unfair competition" which harms domestic industries. The MOC said the investigation was in accordance with World Trade Organization rules and China's laws.
Premier Wen: it Takes Time for Yuan to Go Global Premier Wen Jiabao said it will take time for the Renminbi (RMB), to fully become an international currency. The status of the RMB has improved on the global market, but is only convertible under the trade account and not under the capital account. He said on Thursday, when answering questions at an entrepreneur symposium at the Summer Davos in Dalian: "We need to have a correct view of ourselves when pushing forward the internationalization of the RMB."

China sells 20 domestically made locomotives to New Zealand China CNR Corporation Limited, one of the country's top two train manufacturers has agreed to sell 20 diesel locomotives to New Zealand. This is the first time that locomotives made-in-china get exported in batches to a developed country. The first six locomotives will be delivered in May 2010 whilst the remaining 14 will arrive in August.
